Privacy Policy — Brave Powers

Effective date: 22 September 2026

1. Our promise in one line

Brave Powers runs 100% offline. Your family's data lives on your device — we can't see it, and neither can anyone else.

2. What we collect

Nothing.

  • No accounts, no sign-ups, no email addresses
  • No advertising identifiers, no analytics, no tracking of any kind
  • No camera or microphone access
  • No location data
  • Nothing your child types, does, or earns is ever transmitted anywhere — the app has no way to send it

This isn't a policy choice we could change on a whim — it's how the app is built, and it's locked by automated tests that fail if any network code is ever added.

3. Where your data lives

All Brave Powers data — your children's steps, streaks, journal, certificates, worlds — is stored only on your own device(s), encrypted where the device supports it. Each child's data stays on that child's own device.

4. The two things that can leave a device — both your choice

  1. Backup export — a parent can export an encrypted backup file and choose where it goes (a cloud drive, an email to yourself, a USB stick). We never see or touch the file; you send it yourself.
  2. Sharing a celebration — a child can share a certificate, badge or win-card as an image, using their device's normal share screen, to whoever they choose (Mum, a grandparent). Again: the app hands the image to your own share sheet — it sends nothing itself.

5. Children's privacy — Australian law and beyond

Brave Powers is designed for children aged 8–17, used under a parent's supervision, and is built for Australian families first:

  • We do not collect any personal information from children — there is nothing to collect, because nothing is transmitted
  • Children never create accounts and never provide email addresses
  • The only "identity" in the app is a nickname you choose on-device
  • Parental controls (the parent PIN) protect all settings, purchases and approvals
  • Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, personal information can only be collected where reasonably necessary — Brave Powers collects none, which is compliance in its simplest form. We handle any personal information (which is to say, effectively none) in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, and we support the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) guidance on children's privacy
  • The app also complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — because the simplest way to protect a child's data anywhere is to never collect it

6. Subscriptions

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your name, payment details, or billing information — the stores process all payments, and your subscription is validated by the store on your device, not by us. Prices are shown in Australian dollars where your store account is Australian.

7. No third parties

No ad networks. No analytics providers. No crash reporters. No social logins. No third-party SDKs that transmit data. The list of things Brave Powers talks to over the network is empty.

8. Deleting your data

Delete a child's profile in the app, and everything belonging to that child is erased from the device permanently. Uninstall the app, and everything is gone. There's no hidden copy anywhere — there's nowhere for one to live.

9. Your rights (including under Australian law)

Because we hold no personal information on any server, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or delete beyond what's on your own device — which you control completely. If you ever believe we've breached the Australian Privacy Act, you can contact us at the email above, or raise it with the OAIC (oaic.gov.au). Australian consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law apply to any purchases you make through the stores.

10. Changes to this policy

If we ever change it, the new version will appear at this URL with a new effective date. Because the app is offline, we'd also announce any change before an app update that carries it.

11. Who we are

Brave Powers is owned and operated by Mathew Walker, Australia.
